Additional Property Attributes

The current tenant of the building, Capitol Candy (a full service convenience and grocery store wholesaler) is seeking to purchase the building, remodel the structure and increase the utilization of the building. To aid in the property transfer and to ensure continued use of the historic property environmental site assessment were conducted for the prospective purchaser. The most significant environmental concerns were the results of the Sub-Slab Soil Vapor Sampling investigation. Laboratory results reported elevated tetrachloroethene (PCE) and trichloroethene (TCE) concentrations in the sub-slab soil vapor at the Site which pose a risk to indoor air. Further investigations are being required by the VT DEC and the RPC is in the process of securing additional funding.

Former Use: In 1884 residential structures occupied the site and sometime between 1905-1915 different uses were being established. Throughout its history the site has been host to a variety of commercial and industrial uses including an auto storage, general storage, wholesale grocers, dry cleaner, beverage bottling facility, and a recreation center. Most recently is been utilized as dry storage. Today the site consists of an approximately 0.45-acre parcel with an on-site building which is comprised of an amalgamation of multiple interconnected sub-buildings into a single structure. The various sub-building components were constructed between the mid 1900s and the early 2000s.
