Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The property is located at 9 Church Street in Goffstown, New Hampshire, parcel 34-88. Sanborn maps available for the parcel show that the site was associated with Kendall, Hadley & Co. sash, blind and window s in the 1892 map; one building was labeled as a dry house on the southern portion of the property, just north of the railroad. By 1898, a livery building, lumber building, and unlabeled building were present at the northern portion of the site. By 1912, the lumber building was removed, and a new building was constructed that ran north to south from the location of the present day yarn shop to the former dryhouse at the southern portion of the parcel; the building was used for storage, staining, and as a dryhouse. By 1921, the northernmost building was labeled as a wagon shed, and the western building was labeled as a paint shop with storage. Between 1921 and 1941 the northernmost buildings on the parcel were demolished and a residential building was constructed; based on the footprint, it is assumed that this building incorporates the former portion of the Town Hall that was relocated to the site. An apparent oil AST on steel with a concrete dike is located on the southern portion of the parcel on both the 1941 and 1958 maps. Aerial photos available for the parcel indicate the AST was removed prior to 1998 (aerial photos prior to 1998 were of poor quality such that the presence/absence of the oil tank was not clear). The former residential building located on the parcel is currently used as a Yarn Shop and is listed as being eligible for the National Register of Historical Places. A B&M railroad corridor also ran through the southern portion of the parcel. Based on historical aerial photos available, the railroad appeared to be removed prior to 1985.
