Additional Property Attributes

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment received a Brownfield Application for a Phase I Assessment from Acorn Valley Custom Cabinetry in Thayer, KS. The company has the support from the City of Chanute to have a Phase I BTA to be performed at a property located at 4101 Ross Lane in Chanute, KS. The company is looking at purchasing the property to operate a custom cabinet manufacturing facility. This will reduce urban sprawl and maintain integrity of existing undeveloped land. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) completed a Phase I Brownfields Targeted Assessment (BTA) at the above referenced property in Chanute, Kansas. Based on the Phase I report, no Recognized Environmental Conditions (RECs) were identified and the property. No further investigation is needed through the Brownfields Program and the property is cleared for redevelopment.

Former Use: Based on available information the Site was developed as cultivated cropland by at least 1948, along with the majority of the surrounding area. It appears likely that this was the first developed use of the Site. The first structure constructed on the Site was in 1971, indicated as a Canopy, Service Station according to available property improvement information. Buildings were added in 1979 and 2008 creating the existing 63,000 square foot structure. The facility was used as a cabinet manufacturer until 2015 when it was converted to a warehouse.
