Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The property consists of an approximately 2--acre parcel on the south side of Chaplin Avenue. The property shares a mailing address, 16 Chaplin Avenue, with the adjoining property and building to the north, which is also owned and operated by Rutland County Parent Child Center. As of May 2016 the property hosted one vacant building that was most recently used as a day care facility. A playground was present on the buildings east side and a small solar array was present to the northwest of the building. The interior of the building was largely empty and it was undergoing renovations. The earliest development on the building appears to be a small outbuilding in 1916. The property was then used as a car and truck dealership and repair shop with three buildings beginning circa 1922 and ending circa 1932. A gasoline underground storage tank (UST) is visible near the entrance on Chaplin Avenue on the 1925 Sanborn Map. The property was used for furniture storage, a construction supply company, and as a warehouse for various baked goods from approximately 1937 through the early 1970s. The United States School of Professional Paperhanging operated on the property from the mid 1970s until the early 2000s. Property uses in the 2000s included the Wellspring of Life Christian Center and a salon. The current building appears to have been constructed between 1925 and 1942.
