Additional Property Attributes

A developer entered the brownfields program to comeplte all appropriate inquiry prior to purchase and decided against the property transfer. The Village is working on marketing this brownfield site for redevelopment.

Former Use: 6 South River Street otherwise known as the former Riviere Hotel is believed to have been developed in the mid-1800?s and operated primarily as a hotel/reception hall until the mid-1980?s and later as a bar, restaurant and rooming house until 2013. It was one of the catalyst sites considered in the Swanton Northern Gateway Area Wide Plan. The property is privately owned but currently vacant and is in extreme disrepair. The Village is very motivated to restore or redevelop the blighted property.
