Additional Property Attributes

To characterize known contamination, 5 permanent groundwater monitoring wells were installed, and, to define the extent of groundwater contamination, 5 temporary wells were installed. Groundwater samples were taken from all 10 wells. Contamination relating to gasoline or diesel fuel was found in all of the wells. All of the wells had petroleum contamination above the Default Target Levels, the lowest risk-based target levels in the Missouri Risk-Based Corrective Action (MRBCA) guidance document. All of the permanent wells had contamination above the MRBCA residential target levels. Three of the permanent wells had contamination above the MRBCA non-residential target levels. Two of the permanent wells had a measurable amount of petroleum product present in the wells, two had just a sheen of petroleum, and one had no petroleum product present. The highest levels of petroleum contamination appear to be directly downgradient from the pump islands and gasoline aboveground storage tanks in the direction groundwater flows, to the southeast.

Former Use: Kennett City Light, Gas, & Water - Economic Development has applied for a Brownfields Assessment on behalf of Prance Oil for this site, which was a fueling station and auto repair shop until 2007. Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments have already been conducted at the site. This assessment will be a Phase II Addendum to determine the extent of contamination to allow the City to make cleanup decisions. All structures on the property have been removed.
