Additional Property Attributes

Contaminated soils on the property were managed and capped concurrent with the clean-up and re-development of the Windsor Welcome Center. The Certificate of Completion issued to the Welcome Center at 3 Railroad Avenue does not extend to this property.

Former Use: The property consists of a 0.12-�-acre parcel of land with a building in the downtown area of Windsor, Vermont, with residential and light commercial uses prevalent in the surrounding area. The parcel was originally joined with the parcel to the northwest, now known as the Windsor Welcome Center at 3 Railroad Avenue, which was also historically known as 21 � Depot Avenue. The property is currently used for offices. Current tenants include the Mount Ascutney Hospital and Windsor on Air (a community cable television company). The building is also used as a community resource building and houses conference rooms and offices for community use. Historic uses of the property include a machine product manufacturing plant, a paint shop, a carriage shop, a pattern shop, and as storage for lumber, grain, feed, and shingles. The property was developed as a carriage shop as of the earliest record (1894). Surrounding historic property uses include gas stations, automotive sales and repair garages, a manufactured gas plant, machinists, oil dealers, drycleaners, grocers, plumbers, liveries, lawyers, restaurants, coal, wood, grain, and trucking businesses.
