Property Highlights

The site is located on the East Highway 14. Northwestern Energy Natural Gas Power Plant is located to the north side of the property and the City is concerned there may be some contamination related to the Power Plant present at the site. The City has requested Brownfields assistance in performing the site assessments so that they can quantify the contamination and associated risk and liability before the property is redeveloped. The site will be developed for commercial and industrial development. This project will help to create new primary sector jobs in the community as well as increasing our overall tax base in the City of Huron and Beadle County. Former Use: The site has been farmed by the Nielsen Family since the 1940s and was acquired by the Greater Huron Development Corporation in November of2018 for the purpose of future commercial and industrial development. Past and present usage of the site has been agricultural with no above ground structures known to have been present. An eight-inch natural gas pipeline is located beneath the surface and runs from the northeast comer of the property to the southeast comer. Natural gas, oil, and water lines are located beneath the surface and run north to south from the Northwestern Energy Natural Gas Power Plant on the north side of the property to the property line on the south side.
