Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: According to Site interviews and available records, the Site appears to have been originally developed before 1907 with up to four buildings originally used as dwellings. Additional residential, industrial, and commercial developments occurred in the surrounding area at that time. Industrial activities including lumber, woodworking, beverage, and icehouse supply associated with the Chicago and Northwestern Rail Road existed to the south of the Site. Based on city directory listings in 1935 and 1945 as well as fire insurance maps from 1948 indicate the Site operated as a gasoline filling and auto service station with two gasoline storage tanks. It is unclear from available records whether the storage tanks were above or underground. The gasoline tanks were not identified on storage tank databases and it is unclear whether the tanks have been removed. By 1956, the Site was operating as a used auto sales location. Between 1985 and present, the Site appears to be vacant with a single building which is unoccupied.
