Additional Property Attributes

The City of East Cleveland involuntarily acquired this former gas station parcel in 2013 through tax foreclosure and direct transfer via sheriff deed. It is now requesting assistance in performing environmental assessments to determine the extent of petroleum contamination. Second Quarter 2019 A Phase I for the site indicated there was one REC. Historic records indicated that there were at least two gasoline USTs on the site. A focused Phase II descripted three areas of concern. The geophysical survey found several anomalies that may either be USTs or buried debris on the site. Soil analysis indicated high levels of naphthalene and TPH GRO. Groundwater analysis indicated high levels of naphthalene. Given that soil and groundwater concentrations identified on the site exceeded BUSTR action levels, it was recommended that a Class Code Determination be completed for the site. The City of East Cleveland does not have any redevelopment plans; therefore, it has decided not to go forward at this time with cleanup efforts. Demolition process is in progress. CCLRC involvement complete.

Former Use: The site has been vacant and abandoned since 1978. Previous owner: SAS Global, Link, Inc. The company is no longer in good standing with the State of Ohio and its articles cancelled in April 2013. The City of East Cleveland is applying for Phase I and II funding for this site. It is also requesting CCLRC demolish the small building on the parcel.
