Additional Property Attributes

Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians (MBCI) acquired the property on March 10, 1998. The property was historically operated as an industrial plant and that industrial operations continued after the acquisition until the facility closed in December 2018. Based on historical aerial photographs, the property likely began manufacturing operations during the early 1980s, when a large commercial/industrial building was first observed on the property (in a 1983 aerial photograph). The property is listed in the FINDS and ECHO databases, and files reviewed at the offices of the MDEQ in Jackson, Mississippi indicate that this facility has maintained a hazardous waste identification number from 1990 to present and is registered as handling waste codes F002 and F005. One inspection form was included in the files that indicated no issues were identified during an inspection by MDEQ. Various-sized containers of cooling tower dispersant, cooling tower microbiocide, metalworking fluid, and air compressor oil were observed during site reconnaissance inside a chemical cabinet located on the south side of the central building. A number of fiber 55-gallon drums were located in various areas of the buildings. These drums appeared to contain plastic pellets and metals. Also, a number of five-gallon buckets of solder flux were observed in the central building. A facility map of the building located in the center of the property was observed during site reconnaissance activities. Based on the facility map, metal cutting and splicing activities occurred in the central building in the past, and the majority of the facility was identified as warehouse/storage. A facility map of the western building on the property was also observed during site reconnaissance. According to this map, the western building was primarily used for material storage for Club Car (golf cart distributor), a service area and packing for Caterpillar, and a laboratory. The facility historically operated as a wire harness manufacturer.
