Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Hartz Mountain Corporation consisted of the manufacturing of pet treats from pig ears and beef/pork bones. Meat processing by-products were received either fresh (refrigerated) or frozen; the facility had both refrigerated and freezer rooms to store the raw materials prior to processing. Steps involved to transform the raw materials into dog treats include washing and disinfecting (treatment), flavoring, baking, sizing, and packaging. The process also involved a hot-water wash, disinfection with acetic acid and other chemicals, and baking for over 24 hours (all necessary steps to destroy salmonella. The baked ears and bones were packaged, boxed, and stored in the warehouse area prior to shipping. Hartz Mountain Corporation ceased manufacturing operations at the facility in 2017. The building is currently unoccupied.
