Additional Property Attributes

Former brick manufacturing property

Former Use: The Site comprises three parcels totaling 133.5 acres. Two parcels, identified as Lot 1 (101 acres) and Lot 2 (26 acres), are undeveloped. The third parcel, identified as Lot 4 (6.5 acres), is improved with numerous buildings/structures that formerly supported industrial operations, which ceased in the 1990s. These Site building are now abandoned, and waist-high grass and vegetation cover Lot 4 and a portion of Lot 2. The remainder of the Site is heavily wooded with mature trees. Access to the Site is provided from Hanover Street Ext., although there is no formal driveway or parking area. The Site reportedly operated under the Densmore Brick Company from the late 1800s to 1960s for brick manufacturing, which included washing the bricks with muriatic acid and drying the bricks in kilns. Densmore Brick Company operations ceased in the 1960s, and the Site was used primarily for storage. At peak operations, the Site contained seven buildings and five kilns on Lot 4 and ten stables/storage buildings on Lot 2. No development has historically been depicted on Lot 1. Ownership transferred to Hodges Development Corporation (Hodges) in 1985, and during the transfer, a 2-acre portion of the Lot 4 in the southeast corner was parceled off and sold separately. This parcel was subsequently redeveloped as The Burning Log, a wood fuel supplier. The Burning Log utilized the onsite warehouse buildings for storage of wood materials from the late 1980s through the 1990s. It is unclear when The Burning Log ceased operations. Hodges transferred ownership of the Site to C.R. Wilson Properties (Wilson Properties) in 1989. Wilson Properties did not utilize the Site and transferred ownership to the current owners, Lane NH Holdings, LLC, in 2004. The Site is currently not maintained and is considered by the City to be abandoned.
