Additional Property Attributes

The City of Britton purchased this land and demolished the sale barn structure. The city intends to use this property to further economic development by selling the lots to local businesses and developers. In addition, the City intends to expand water lines and city streets to increase access for residents and visitors.

Former Use: The Site was most recently used as a livestock sale barn that include an approximately 21,300-square foot (SF) one-story structure, numerous indoor/outdoor stockyard fences/pens, a water system incorporating at least five various-sized concrete/auto-heated waterers up to 250-gallons, three concrete loading ramps, two livestock scales, one estimated 4,000-gallon capacity vat/dip tank; and rail siding for loading/transporting livestock. The Site was cropland prior to its first development as a livestock sale barn in 1944, which included the above-described operations until 2018. The City of Britton acquired the Site in the Fall of 2018 and demolished the sale barn in the Spring of 2019, backfilled pitted areas with clean gravel from recent nearby roadwork and left the general flooring/concrete foundations.
