Additional Property Attributes

The historic home and studio of Elisabet Ney, a wildly iconoclastic German sculptor who moved to Austin in 1882, The Elisabet Ney Museum enthusiastically celebrates her art, her history and her legacy through exhibitions and events for the whole family. The museum enjoys numerous historic designations and is a cornerstone of the Hyde Park National Register Historic Neighborhood. The Restoration Project will will include removal, restoration, and reinstallation of all the windows and doors as well as disturbance of some areas for new HVAC equipment.
Project specifications were provided to the applicant, which will be incorporated into the competitive bidding process for museum renovations. Abatement and renovations must follow special procedures since the museum is a historic property. No further action is anticipated at this time.
Due to the historic designation, using the RLF loan was not feasible, and the applicant decided not to utilize the cleanup loan fund. The project was cancelled, and ABRO requested to utilize city funds that had been spent in good faith preparing for the RLF loan be used for cost share/match instead. EPA approved the request for eligible activities paid for with City funds to be used as cost share.
