Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Site was developed in the early 1910/1920s with two spinning mills. Hawthorn Mill, located on the southern part of the Site, was constructed in 1916. The Hampshire Mill, located on the northern part of the Site, was constructed in 1923. Based on interviews with former employees and neighbors, a rug mill also operated in the southeastern portion of the Site. Circa 1942, American Thread Company acquired the Site and continued operations. Southern Industries of Clover also occupied the Site between circa 1987 and 2007. Between 2006 and 2009, the buildings associated with the rug mill and the Hawthorn Mill were demolished. Currently, it is improved with a four-story former mill building (approximately 200,000 square ft) and a two-story former office building (approximately 2,400 square ft). it is currently owned by J A Benfield Plumbing, Inc.
