Additional Property Attributes

The Site is included in a group of properties that comprise the Washington School Site Properties, a.k.a West Washington Street Properties, in a SCDHEC Brownfield NRP Contract# 04-5555-NRP dated August 16, 2004. Several RECs were identified in connection with the Washington School Site Properties including hydraulic lifts, unknown piping, auto repair use, dry cleaner use, residential ASTs, former and current USTs, chemical drum storage, and adjacent properties uses. As part of a November 2004 investigation, surficial composite soil sampling was conducted at the Site. The composite soil sample collected contained lead exceeding the residential Preliminary Remediation Goal (PRG), which was attributed as naturally occurring. Throughout the entire Washington School Site Properties, soil, groundwater and soil gas sampling were conducted, which included immediately adjacent properties to the Site. Based on previous investigations, soil and groundwater quality have been impacted by previous activities on the properties, which requires significant corrective actions. Per SCDHEC, the VCC was terminated on April 14, 2011 due to inactivity. Therefore, contamination identified during previous investigations remains at the West Washington Street Properties, which could impact environmental quality at the Site and is therefore considered a REC.

Former Use: The 0.376-acre Site consists of one (1) parcel of land identified by the Greenville County Tax Assessor as Parcel #0052000100200. The Site is vacant of structures and consists of a vegetated grassed area. A paved sidewalk is located along West Washington Street. The Site was historically residential from at least 1913 through circa 1975. The Site has been vacant since at least 1975 through the present.
