Additional Property Attributes

The Site was historically operated as the Hillsboro Laundry beginning in the 1920s. In the early1970s, the laundry business expanded to include dry cleaning which involved the use of tetrachloroethene (PCE). The Hillsboro Laundry closed in the early 1980s. Portions of the building were leased to several small businesses. In approximately 1985, Associated Electric leased the entire building and began operations that included a range of services for industrial and mechanical equipment, including: machining parts; rewinding turbines, electric motors, and generators; and painting refurbished equipment. In 1996, Rosewald Industries, LLC purchased the property and continued the services of Associated Electric until approximately 2002.
The property was acquired by the Town of Hillsborough for back taxes in June 2022 and a variety of items remain from Rosewald Industries including machinery, parts from former operations, and drums/containers are present in the buildings and property exterior. NHDES conducted a site walk to review the condition of the site and observed a number of containers containing unknown fluids throughout the buildings. Containers range from small pans to 55-gallon drums, some with obvious staining around them. Many were noted to have what appears to be oil; however it is not known if other substances were mixed with the oils, or if they are PCB containing oils.
