Additional Property Attributes

The Site consists of an asphalt-paved parking lot. Concrete sidewalks are located along the Site north and south borders. The topography of the Site is relatively flat with a downward slope, trending east. Since at least 1885, the Site was historically developed with the Jas Mean and Co. Shoe Factory, the west half of the L.C. Bliss Co Shoe Factory, and the west half of the H.T. Marshall Boot Factory. Four structures and the western half of two main factory buildings were formerly located at the Site. The structures are labeled as an engine house, a boiler room, a shoe factory, shoe storage, and an oil house. The Site operated as shoe and boot manufacturers up until at least 1909. Sometime between 1909 and 1950, the buildings were razed and the Site redeveloped into the existing present-day parking lot. Based on the former industrial use of the Site as shoe and boot manufacturers, including the operation machine shops, and the presence of an oil house during a time that precluded modern hazardous material storage, use, and disposal practices as well as strict environmental regulations, the potential exists for impacts from historic site operations. The property will be redeveloped for mixed residential/commercial use.
