Additional Property Attributes

Following interviews with adjacent property owners, it was discovered that drums containing transformer fluid may be buried on the property. An interviewee also said the property was used to store creosote-coated poles, and there is also a buried pit that used to store dynamite. A former county employee said that the dynamite pit was emptied and filled-in prior to transferring ownership of the property to the city. An updated Phase I Environmental Site Assessment was completed that incorporated the interviewee information into the final report. The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) also completed a Geophysical Survey to determine the approximate location and depth of the buried drums. An anomaly was detected in the subsurface where an interviewee said the drums were buried. A Phase II Environmental Site Assessment is recommended to assess if the buried drums have caused a release of PCB-containing transformer fluid to the environment and to assess soil in the creosote-coated pole storage area for semi-volatile organic compounds.
