Additional Property Attributes

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment received a Brownfields application from the City of Caney for their property located at 110 E. 8th St. in Caney, KS. They requested a Phase I BTA with asbestos and lead based paint surveys for the redevelopment project. The application was approved on March 26, 2019.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) completed a Phase I Brownfields Targeted Assessment (BTA) at the above referenced property in Caney, Kansas. Based on the Phase I report, no "Recognized Environmental Conditions" (RECs) were identified at the property. No further investigation is needed through the Brownfields Program and the property is cleared for redevelopment.

Business Environmental Risks (BERs) were found during a NESHAP Limited Asbestos, Lead-Based Paint (LBP), and Mold Survey. Based on the information collected during the survey, asbestos containing materials (ACMs) were identified as ceiling wall board system (2% chrysotile) and 50 linear feet of exterior door frame caulking (2% chrysotile). Lead-Based Paint was not identified. Abatement of the ACM will likely be required prior to demolition.
