The Kansas Department of Health and Environment received a Brownfields application from Eric Pishney for the property located at 400 Genesee St. in Blue Rapids, KS. They requested a Phase I BTA with asbestos, lead based paint, and mold surveys for the redevelopment project. The application was approved on March 29, 2019.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) completed a Phase I Brownfields Targeted Assessment (BTA) at the above referenced property in Blue Rapids, Kansas. Based on the Phase I report, no "Recognized Environmental Conditions" (RECs) were identified at the property. No further investigation is needed through the Brownfields Program and the property is cleared for redevelopment.

Business Environmental Risks (BERs) were found during a NESHAP Limited Asbestos, Lead-Based Paint (LBP), and Mold Survey. Based on the information collected during the survey, asbestos containing materials (ACMs) were not identified. Lead-Based Paint was identified as white paint on exterior siding (88,400 mg/kg), white paint on exterior trim (55,900 mg/kg), white paint on baseboard (37,300 mg/kg) and white paint on interior trim (7,050 mg/kg). Mold commonly associated with high-toxicity "black mold" was identified in four of the six samples. These samples were generally located on the back floor, damaged walls, bathroom, and north wall.
