Additional Property Attributes

The western half of the subject site was an automotive salvage yard. A Phase II Environmental Site Assessment was completed to determine if salvage yard activities have impacted the underlying soil and groundwater on the site. No contaminants of concern were detected in the underlying groundwater. Thirty-six composite soil samples were collected from the top 12-inches of soil. Low concentrations of total extractable hydrocarbons were detected in all samples; however, analytical results for all samples were below the Risk Based Screening Levels for exposures to contaminated surface soils. The semi-volatile organic compound (SVOC) di-n-butyl-phthalate was detected in only one of the samples and at a concentration that is below the NDEE residential Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP) Remediation Goal (RG).Concentrations of barium, cadmium, chromium, lead, and mercury were detected in several soil samples, but all concentrations were below the NDEE residential VCP RGs. Arsenic was detected in all but one of the samples ranging in concentrations from 2.0 to 10.4 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg). These concentrations exceed the NDEE residential VCP RGs; however, all detected concentrations of arsenic were within the natural background concentrations of arsenic for Dawson County, NE. The natural background concentration is likely the attribution of arsenic detected in the soil samples. Based on the analytical results of the Phase II Environmental Site Assessment, no further investigation is warranted.
