Additional Property Attributes

The Property was developed with a hotel from the 1890s to 1920s and operated as a filling and greasing station from the late 1920s until the late 1930s with three gasoline storage tanks. The hotel and filling station buildings were demolished by 1944. In 1944, Land O' Lakes constructed a turkey processing plant on the 0.86-acre Property and operated the plant until 1985 when the plant was closed. The Property was used as the Aitkin County Workforce Center from 1987 to 2014. The building on the Property was demolished in August 2019, and the Property is currently an empty lot. A railroad track was present along the west edge of the Property from at least 1908 to 1973. The surrounding land use is generally listed as zoned Downtown Mixed Use. Future use of the Property is planned to be residential use.
