Additional Property Attributes

The Property was developed by 1884 with residences (southeast side), boot and shoe store (southeast side), boarding (northwest side), vacant commercial building (northwest side), and outbuildings (north portion). Between 1884 and 1918, the Property was developed with residences and various commercial/retail and manufacturing operations (shoe store, laundromat, oak factory, grocery store, candy shop, broom factory, heat stove shop, boarding house, B&G Maker, shed, cobbler, barber, lunch shop, paint shop, repair shop, wagon works, stables, and tailor). By 1928, the Property was developed with an auto sales and service operation and a vacant building on the northwest portion and a building along the northeast side. By 1941, the existing building was constructed on the Property and used for auto sales and service. The building included a filling station and three gasoline tanks were noted along the southeast side of the Property on Bridge Street. Auto sales and service operations continued until Perrigo acquired the Property in the 1960s. The buildings on the northern portion of the Property were demolished by the 1980s. Perrigo performed printing operations in the onsite building from the 1960s to 1985. This included the use of chlorinated solvents (tetrachloroethene), and then the building was converted to a maintenance shop which operated from 1986 to 2017. Maintenance shop operations included spray painting of parts, welding, machining, etc. The Property was acquired by a non-profit organization in 2019 and used for storage. At the time of the reconnaissance, the Property consisted of approximately 0.65-acres of land developed with an approximately 14,000 square-foot, single-story former maintenance building. The building was vacant at the time of the reconnaissance and was used to store bags of cans that were intended for offsite recycling. The remainder of the Property was developed with paved parking and landscaped areas.
