Additional Property Attributes

This 1.92-acre parcel contains the Jennings City Hall, as well as Sievers Park. At the southern end of the property is one of the city's original fire houses, built in the 1950s. The 3,500 sq. ft. building is in deteriorated condition and the city would like to demolish it, using the space as extra parking for Sievers Park.

A 1,000-gallon diesel fuel tank was reportedly removed from the southwest portion of the site in 1998. However, the site was occupied by a gas station between 1985 and 1995. As such, it's possible abandoned tanks remain. In addition, there was a lack of information regarding any possible subsurface contamination. Asbestos-containing materials (ACM) were found in the former fire station building in the southwest corner of the property. Lead-based paint (LBP) was found in the former fire station building. A subsurface investigation should be conducted to determine if any underground storage tanks remain at the site, as well as any possible soil and groundwater contamination. All ACM should be abated prior to renovating or demolishing the former fire station. All LBP should be abated prior to renovating the former fire station.
