Additional Property Attributes

This property served as a gas station from 1977 to 2007. It has been abandoned by the owners and has numerous federal tax liens as well as years of delinquent real estate taxes. The county wishes to sell the property for back taxes as the owner has no interest in resolving the tax liens.

The RECs for the site are its use as a gas station for approximately 70 years and its historical use as an automotive servicing center. A subsurface investigation is recommended.

Contamination, although minor, was found in the subsurface soil, indicating that a release has occurred at the site. Naphthalene, Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons - Gasoline Range Organics, and lead, were all found at concentrations above the Department's Default Target Levels. None of these contaminants, however exceed residential target levels. Groundwater wasn't encountered, so it is unknown if there is contaminated groundwater at the site. A previous Department record indicates that a fifth tank exists onsite. However, a ground-penetrating radar survey was conducted and a tank was not found. The Phase II report recommended that the tanks at the site need to be properly closed, either removed or closed in-place., and further investigation should be taken to locate a fifth tank and, if found, properly close it.
