The Horizon Health Care is planning to do an extensive remodel and expansion of their facility in Plankinton. They have been serving the Plankinton community for the last three decades. The health care facility in Plankinton not only serves local residents, but also sees patients from surrounding communities such as Mitchell and White Lake.

Historical resources suggest the site was developed shortly after it was platted in 1881. Several business were located on-site between 1884 and 1937 including: feed stores, restaurants, saloons, offices, lumberyard, hotel, farm machinery stores, tailor, post office, cobbler, opera house, hand printing store, racket store, general store, and harness store. Buildings remained on Lots 11, 12, and 13 until between 2005 and 2012 when they were demolished, leaving vacant grass lots. The existing health care clinic was constructed on Lots 14 & 15 in 1992.
