Additional Property Attributes

In 1982, Rose Chemicals began operations at the site as a polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) processing facility under the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) authority. Prior to the company ceasing operations in February 1986, Rose Chemicals received approximately 23 million pounds of PCB materials. Between 14 and 16 million pounds of these materials were abandoned at this facility, leading to contamination of soil and groundwater. Pursuant to an EPA enforcement action, all soil containing 10ppm or more for PCBs was removed from the site followed by placement of clean fill and 10 years of groundwater monitoring.

Currently, the 26 acre site is mostly vacant land. A 2,100 square foot storage shed with gravel parking/storage lot is present on the north east portion of the site.

Several RECs were identified related to dry cleaning and other historic site use. These include petroleum products container and stained soil and gravel, the former Rose Chemicals facility, a nearby dry cleaners, and a nearby metal polish manufacturer.
