Additional Property Attributes

Property was formerly used as a hospital from the early 1900's until its closure in 1983. The site was previously assessed in 2006 by the US Army Corp of Engineers in cooperation with EPA Region 4. The assessments were funded through an EPA Brownfield Assessment Grant and later used by the City of Maysville to apply for an EPA Brownfield Cleanup Grant in 2010. Although several contaminants were verified through sampling and analysis conducted during the Phase II ESA in 2006, a cleanup grant was never awarded. Among other findings, the Phase II ESA conducted in 2006 identified mercury, PCBs, asbestos containing materials and lead. The property is currently for sale by a private owner. Several entities, including a nonprofit organization, have expressed interest in purchasing the site after assessments and evaluations are complete. Ultimately, the nonprofit group and potential community partners want to determine redevelopment options and possibly use the site as a multi-residential property.
