* Historical resources suggest the site was vacant or undeveloped until construction of a motel in approximately 1979. The site (or a portion of the site) does appear to have been owned or used by the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad for a period of time in the early 20th century. From approximately 1979-2014 the site was operated as a motel until a fire destroyed the site structures (Nov. 2014).

The City of Pierre is working with the Hegg Development Company to redevelop this property. Plans for the project include a multi-story hotel building. Once the property is developed, it will
increase sales tax revenue benefiting the Pierre community. The first step is to assess the property for potential contamination (Phase I).
