Additional Property Attributes

The Borough of Naugatuck was sub-granted
supplemental funding in the amount of $350,000 for remedial activities at the former Risdon
Manufacturing site. Environmental data collected from previously funded assessment sampling has
helped the Borough of Naugatuck determine redevelopment options for future reuse. The Borough
of Naugatuck and SLR has selected a remediation contractor with work continuing throughout the
fall.

The Site is located within a commercial and residential area of central Naugatuck bordered by Andrew
Avenue to the west, Scott Street to the south, Arch Street to the east, and Long Meadow Pond Brook then
Rubber Avenue to the north. Residential dwellings are located along a portion of the south-central and
eastern parcel boundary. Long Meadow Pond Brook flows from west to east parallel to the northern parcel
boundary, with commercial properties abutting the north side of Long Meadow Pond Brook. The Site was previously served by municipal water for potable supply and fire suppression and municipal
sanitary sewers for sanitary waste disposal. Electricity was provided via overhead utilities, and the Site
appears to have had some underground service. Based on a historical Site survey pad-mounted transformers, a gas meter,
and a Connecticut Light and Power (CL&P) easement were located at the Site. Heating fuel was stored at
the Site in underground storage tanks (USTs) with boilers located within the former facility.
