Additional Property Attributes

A Phase I ESA has been requested for the Zilker Metropolitan Park, which comprises over 350 acres in the heart of central Austin. Certain areas in and around the park have had various historic uses since the late 1800s, and so a comprehensive review of those previous uses as a whole was deemed necessary. The final Phase I ESA has been received, identified RECs, and will be used during future projects with PARD.
2024 update: Zilker Park has been going through a community engagement and visioning process to develop a visionary framework to guide the restoration and future development of Zilker Metropolitan Park and its numerous facilities and features through a robust public engagement process. The Vision Plan was a community-driven planning process to establish a guiding framework for the restoration and future development of Zilker Metropolitan Park. It is the first comprehensive planning initiative to encompass the park's 351 acres and associated facilities. Despite almost three years working with the community to establish a guiding framework for Zilker Park's restoration, the Zilker Park Vision planning process was suspended in 2023 before being presented to the City Council. The Parks and Recreation Department suspended further planning efforts, and it is unknown when the process will begin again.
