Additional Property Attributes

The site consists of an approximately 1.6-acre parcel of land located in Fort Belknap Agency, Montana. The property is in Township 32N, Range 23E, Section 33, and has a property Geocode of 24-4449-33-1-01-01-0000. The site is located on Food Farm Avenue and consists of two structures and a parking lot. One structure is known as the Former Commodity Program Building, which is a two-story unoccupied building. The other structure, which is essentially attached to the Commodity Program Building, is a single-story building that currently houses the Smoke House Grill and the Fort Belknap Credit Agency and Social Services Departments. The property is surrounded by a parking lot, grass, and Highway 2 to the north, Assiniboine Avenue to the south, Agency Main Street to the east, and the Aaniiih Nakoda College Library to the west.

The Former Commodity Program Building, which is currently vacant, has been historically used as a commodity warehouse where tribal members were provided produce and other foods. Currently, food and commodities are distributed to tribal members from another building on the reservation, and FBIC wants to renovate the former building and use it again to distribute food stocks and produce.
The one-story building currently houses a restaurant (Smoke House Grill) and a Credit Agency/Social Services. Past uses of this building are unknown. NAEDC chose to inspect this building, which is attached to the Commodity Program Building, to support future renovations of the building as necessary.

A LBP survey of the building was not completed because the building was constructed after 1978, the year EPA banned lead in paint, and because the XRF meter was not in working order at the time of the inspection.
