Additional Property Attributes

A non-profit organization has requested that the City of Ocala deed the property to them so they can build a homeless shelter and a day pavillion for transitional individuals and families. An adjacent site is undergoing remediation from long term fleet vehicle maintenance and the city wanted to be sure there were no impacts to this site before considering a deed transfer. PPF - 7/25/06 Currently, the City is exploring redeveloping the property. 09/22/11

Former Use: Prior to 1960, the site was a residential area. Two of the homes were used for commercial ventures such as beauty shops. When US Highways 301 and 441 were extended through the area, the existing homes were demolished. The City of Ocala has been using the site for a staging and storage area since the mid 1960s.
