S.S. Kemp and Company, a wholesale distributor of supplies and equipment to the food service industry, applied to the Community Assessment Initiative for environmental site assessment services at 4582 Willow Parkway, Cuyahoga Heights, Ohio. Cuyahoga County contracted with an environmental consultant to conduct a limited Phase II Property Assessment in order to assist S.S. Kemp & Co. with its possible expansion onto this adjacent site. The limited Phase II, which was completed in April 2006, indicated that several VOCs and TPH were present in the soils and that the groundwater beneath the property appeared to be impacted from historic onsite activities. The environmental consultant recommended the development of a remedial action plan, the continued delineation of the groundwater contamination, and sampling of the surface water at the site.

Former Use: A pre-1986 tenant operated an aboveground storage tank farm and hazardous waste storage unit, which went through RCRA closure. A UST was removed in 1988. An inactive solid waste disposal facility is located approximately .13 miles from the site.
