Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: From at least the late 1890s through the 1920s the southern adjoining propertey operated as a limestone quarry, and it is presumed the subject property was associated with the limestone quarry at that time. The subject property was owned by the White Marble Lime Company during that time. Due to data failure, AKT Peerless was unable to determine if any structures were located on the subject property from at least 1890 until 1953. The subject property consisted of underdeveloped land with some gravel drives from at least 1953 until 1964 when it was developed with a rectangular structure on the central portion of the property and a round structure on the western half of the property. In addition, what appeared to be several trailers or railcars were observed to be stored on the western half of the subject property in the 1964 aerial photograph. AKT Peerless was unable to determine operations on the subject property during that time. The existing building was constructed between 1970 and 1972 and was utilized as the Manistique Armory until it was vacated in December 2004. During that time, operations included some light maintenance of fleet vehicles and training excercises. The subject property remained vacant until August 2006 when Mr. Ron Whitman purchase it. Mr. Whitman is currently in the process of renovating the subject building into a banquet hall, and plans to utilize the eastern truck bays for storage of a petroleum delivery truck.
