Additional Property Attributes

This was a former agricultural implement warehouse with ancillary railroad spurs on the property. The main building was built in 1888 with additions in 1928. The non-profit Pottawattamie County Development Corporation purchased this underutilized building, in order to attract redevelopment interest. During environmental due diligence activities, PAH contamination in soil was noted, most likely from former railroad activities. As a non-profit developer wanted to purchase the building and convert it to living quarters and art studios, they wanted the contamination cleaned up first. 128(a) funds were used to help the Pottawattamie County Development Corporation clean up the contamination through enrollment in Iowa's VCP/LRP. Levels of other contaminants found in media affected did not exceed comparative VCP standards, and no further action was required for these.

Former Use: Former agricultural implement warehouse with ancillary railroad spurs on the property. The main building was built in 1888 with additions in 1928.
