Former Use: The Hawks Furniture Company was listed as the first occupant of the Site in the 1886-1887 City Directory. By 1906, the Site�s primary address was listed as 214 W. Jefferson Street. A variety of industrial manufacturing companies including furniture and metal utility cabinet manufacturers have occupied the Site throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Records from the Elkhart Township Assessor�s Office, Elkhart County Auditor�s Office, and the Elkhart County Recorder�s Office indicate the Site was transferred to Jack E. Wait, Sr. by 2003.
