Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The Site has been used for commercial and/or industrial purposes for at least 120 years. The historical records dated 1886 indicate that the Site was occupied by a blacksmith business �Christian Hinderer Blacksmith�. The Site was subsequently occupied by icehouses Hinderer�s Icehouse� and an ice cream company Maple City Ice Cream Company from before 1912 through 1957. The Site was vacant or not listed in city directory records dated 1962 through 1977. An automotive body/paint shop occupied the Site from 1982 to 1992. Records from the Elkhart Township Assessor�s Office, Elkhart County Auditor�s Office, and the Elkhart County Recorder�s Office indicate the Site was transferred to the current owners, James and Brenda Hawkins, in 2000, who have used and/or continue to use, the site for a number of purposes including automotive repair, painting, and storage of equipment and vehicles.
