Additional Property Attributes

After asbestos abatement activities were completed in March of 2006, final fundraising activities procured over $1 million to renovate an existing church structure with a wing- addition into a building suited to facilitate programs to create a positeve youth environment. The location of this facility in close proximity to the area high school (Cleveland Heights-University Heights), central city, and on a public bus line made it a an excellent location to provide this service. Programs offiered by this facility for youths aged 6 to 18 cover five core development areas: Character & Leadership;Education & Career Development; Health & Life Skills; the Arts & sports and Fitness & Recreation. The facility was redesigned to accomodate class rooms, community centers and physical activity centers. Redevelopment was completed in December 2006. The Heights Youth Club opened their doors for after school activities in January of 2007 and expect to increase their program daily schedule to meet the needs of the area youth by summer of 2007. The Heights Youth Club intends to finish renovation work in July ans open the new facility in August. Asbestos abatment activities were necessary prior to commencing renovations in areas containing ACM. The first repayment of $4,159.37 has been received. The County's direct cost share for the project was $3,380 for QEP services. (PPF - 7/28/06)

Former Use: The structures were built between 1949 - 1959 according to the application. The vacant building was the former location of the Heights Presbyterian Church. The property was purchased from the Presbytery of the Western Reserve in December 2005.
