Additional Property Attributes

The City of Atlanta's Brownfield Program has long been supporting the efforts of the City of Atlanta, Invest Atlanta and Park Pride in assessing, remediating, assembling and ultimately constructing new park space along a 3/4-mile stretch of MLK Jr Drive and Memorial Drive. The park will connect the State Capitol building and historic Oakland Cemetery. Several parcels were assessed under the City's FY2005 U.S. EPA Brownfields grant and have subsequently been purchased in turned into temporary open space. The City's Brownfield Program in 2019 is further assessing additional brownfields along the planned corridor (FY2017 U.S. EPA Brownfields grant) . Final concept plans were presented to the public in 2017 and Park Pride is currently raising funds for the redevelopment. To date, an estimated $5.5 has been spent in purchasing property. The future park area is roughly 12 acres.
