Additional Property Attributes

The assessed property was used for a wrecking company, an automobile repair garage, a scrap metal/material storage yard, a used automobile facility and a towing company for approximately 50 years. The adjoining property to the northwest of the assessed property (148 Railroad St) was historically used by industrial occupants including the Webster Basket Company, Webeco Oil Company, Mika Construction, Vinco Auto Sales and Bedford Paving Company. Additionally, a City of Rochester FOIL response indicated that contamination related to underground petroleum storage tanks on the adjoining property had been discovered and remediated. However, contaminated soils were found to extend to the assessed property, and appeared to extend beneath the assessed building. This contamination was allowed to remain beneath the assessed building and a passive venting system was installed to direct soil vapors away from the assessed building. In addition, industrial occupants historically used the adjoining properties to the east, southeast, southwest and northeast. This assessment revealed no evidence of recognized environmental conditions except for its former industrial occupants/uses, apparent fill materials on the assessed property and potential contamination from off-site sources.

Former Use: Past use includes automobile repair facility, residential, lumberyard, wrecking company and wrecking yard, and towing company. Current use at 140-142 Railroad is vacant and 144 Railroad is developed with an approximate 3,500 sf one-story, slab-on-grade building constructed in approximately 1970 and is used for parking for Big Apple Deli Products.
