Additional Property Attributes

The armory building was cleaned up with State funding through DEQ's Site Cleanup Assistance Program. The building was reused as a Department of Corrections work center for several years until DOC relocated the work center to another town. It is now being rented by Youthcare of Oklahoma. The City of Mangum uses the other side of the building. The UST was removed in 1993. The cleanup date used in ACRES is for the asbestos, LBP, and lead dust cleanup.

Former Use: Prior to the construction of the Mangum Armory Greer County in 1936,the property was used as a Greer County jail at least as early as 1902. Prior to this,City records state that the City of Mangum was unoccupied land used by cattle herders. The Armory is being used by the Oklahoma Army National Guard as a recruitment office and for temporary storage of military equipment, supplies and vehicles.
