Additional Property Attributes

The armory building was cleaned up with State funding through DEQ's Site Cleanup Assistance Program. The UST was removed on 7-25-95. The cleanup date used in ACRES is for the abatement of asbestos, lead-based paint, and lead dust.

Former Use: The Wagoner Armory was built by the WPA in 1936.The site is located in the NE quadrant of N. Jefferson Ave & E. Cherokee Street in Wagoner. The site is located in Section 10, T17N, R18E, Wagoner County, OK. The land was deeded by the neighboring Holy Cross catholic church to the state on October 4, 1935 for the benefit of the Oklahoma National Guard. Historically the site was used to store equipment for disaster response. Vehicle maintenance, fueling, small arms storage occured onsite. An indoor firing range was also located onsite for target practice. The site was vacant land before the Armory was built. The property is bound by 2nd Street on the north, Cherokee Street on the south, Jefferson Ave on the east, and State Street on the west. Adjoining properties include businesses, residences and an American Legion meeting hall.The former armory is being used by the city for storage.
