Additional Property Attributes

The armory building was cleaned up with State funding through DEQ's Site Cleanup Assistance Program. The building is being reused by the Sulphur Public Schools as a PE facility, for cheerleading practice, and for storage of athletic equipment. Redevelopment cost is unknown, so $10,000 was used. The UST was removed on 12/5/93. The cleanup date used in ACRES is for the abatement of lead-based paint and lead dust and removal of lead contaminated soil outside indoor firing range.

Former Use: The Sulphur Armory building was built in 1936. The Sulphur Armory served as a training facility, stored military training materials, military transportation equipment, and provided maintenance. The former armory is being used as school offices.
