Additional Property Attributes

This property was cleaned up through DEQ's Site Cleanup Assistance Program using State funding. The UST was removed 9-25-95. The cleanup date used in ACRES is for the lead-based paint and asbestos abatement, cleanup of indoor firing range, and well drilling. The building is now being used for the City of Blackwell Street Department. Estimated cost of redevelopment is $10,000.

Former Use: The site is located in the NW� of the NE� of Section 22, T27N, and R1W IM in Kay County, Oklahoma. The Armory was built in 1936 and served as a training site and stored materials needed by a military component of the Oklahoma Army National Guard until the mid 90's. The property is currently occupied by the City of Blackwell as a place for storage by the Fire, Street, and Emergency Preparedness Departments. The City of Blackwell plans to discontinue storing equipment at the facility and occupy it in the future for a variety of community purposes. An underground storage tank An underground storage tank was removed from the north side of the building in 1995. A soil sample collected during the removal had a concentration of 12.5 mg/kg of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon TPH Diesel Range Organics DRO. The ground surface where the UST was once located is now paved as a parking lot. DEQ cleaned up lead-based paint, asbestos, and the indoor firing range through DEQ's Site Cleanup Assistance Program (state funded program).
