Property Highlights

The intent of the Town of Brattleboro is to redevelop this site, simultaneously with other adjacent properties, to connect downtown Brattleboro with its waterfront and use part of the properties for a multi-modal transit center. Funding has been secured from the Federal Transit Administration for this project.

Former Use: This .43 acre site is located on Depot Street and has frontage on the Connecticut River. This site was originally part of the Brattleboro Gasworks from 1869 to circa 1950. The land contains an old scale house used for coal weighing and storage. The site may be contaminated from the byproducts of coal gasification which have been found on the adjacent property to the north and the coal weighing activities that occurred on site.
