Additional Property Attributes

Supplemental Investigation Report was completed Q3 2009. The purpose of this investigation was to refine the conceptual site model, better define remediation limits and evaluate site soil for potential reuse.

Former Use: 104 Butler Street is 3.75 acres and sits east of Harbor Brook. Approximately half the site is located within the 100-year flood plain. The site is zoned for manufacturing use. The site contains a 7,200 sq ft former power plant and associated heat conveyance piping. In 1884, Parker Bros. Machine Shops and Gun Factory facility were in operation. Industrial operations included gun manufacturing, specifically consisting of a foundry and machining activities. In 1939 the International Silver Co. was in operation at the site, involved in silverware manufacturing. Processes included casting, plating, machining, trimming, polishing, buffing, forging, storage, and shipping. The site is currently occupied by heat conveyance piping and the former power plant building. The remainder of the site is vacant cleared space. The City of Meriden recently acquired the property.
