Additional Property Attributes

The SCDHEC UST Permit ID # is 19354. The ownership of the site has not changed as of 5-20-08. No petroleum contamination was found during the assessment of the site and a NFA (no further action) letter and a copy of the report was sent to the conservator and potential purchaser on May 19, 2008.

Former Use: Site owned by Nellie McAbee. Mrs McAbee's home and a mobile home are located on back portion of site. Building that formerly housed convenience store located on front portion of site. Former convenience store building is badly deteriorated. USTs last used in 1960s or 1970s. Mrs McAbee is elderly and in a nursing home. The Spartanburg County Probate Court appointed a conservator for Mrs McAbee. Conservator is attempting to sell site to raise funds for Mrs McAbee's care. Potential purchaser is interested in property but presence of USTs and possible contamination is hindering sale. Conservator does not have funds to assess site. SCDHEC agreed to assess USTs to facilitate sale of property. SCDHEC contractor attempted to install two wells in April 2008 but encountered rock in both before hitting water. Soil samples from both were below detection limits for all petroleum constituents. Site work has been closed and a letter and report sent to both conservator and potential purchaser. Site is less than 1 acre in size.
